Found out the terrain features depicted in many of my recent renders are called "Hoodoos": It's the official name geologists use for these features. That name made me smile so now I created a scene with a more "cheery" feel. Hope you like it. Credit to Ade Levi (Terrade) for his Willow herb and Ulco (Dune) for his Heather.
Nice Hoodoos :)
crazy cool Andy!

Thank you, Kadri and Inky.
Nice and mysterious !
Excellent. Love the back lit mist/dust.
I love the texturing of the hoodoos.
A little bit of nitpicking: did you check "receive shadows from surfaces" in the mist layer? If not, I'd like to see how it looks.
Thank you, you two. About the nitpicking: You're absolutely right! Now that you mention it I don't understand why I missed that. :-[ Will give it a rerun with "receive shadows from surfaces" enabled.
Cool! Looking forward to it.
they almost have a personality! I sorta get that it would be easy for people to attach supernatural mythos to these kinds of places even in this day and age. Actually it is pretty understandable I think.
Really cool series, and nice work. I enjoyed the other images in the other threads too.
I like this a lot.................like Hannes, wanna see it with receive shadows enabled. :)
great image Andy, and the .jpg title gave me a chuckle as well.

Now that mention it...! OMG ROFL!
Just fantastic structures. 8)
Here's the version with "receive shadows from surfaces" enabled. No spectacular change or a very prolonged render time either.
Maybe not spectacular but just what the image needed...it's a beaut man!
Thank you, Bobby!
It works well. A good improvement.
thank you, AP.
Welcome.
great stuff. I like the pov and the scales.
Lovely and well chosen POV for this!
