Title: Surfacing imported Objects
Post by: chrisshort on May 09, 2016, 02:56:10 PM
For the life of me I can't seem to surface my imported object properly, specifically with reflections.
I have a jet in the clouds. I have almost all parts needing some form of reflection to it. Some mirror like, other porcelain like.  When I edit my "Chrome" Shader, I increase the reflectivity pretty high but I see no change in the rendered Chrome part of  my object in the scene.
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks!

Probably wrong node tree.
But without an image and a look at the nodes hard to say something.

I can see in the preview that the diffuse changes when I adjust the diffuse. I just don't see any change when I go to the Specular tab and increase reflection.

Maybe others can help without any screenshots. Sorry.

Not sure what a screen grab will show you more than what I've said....

Index of refraction is way too low. One is no good, water is 1.33; for chrome/glass or so, you need to make it at least 1.5 or even up to 4 or higher. Also, this is no RayTraced reflection and for an airplane, that would be needed, so add a reflective shader between part and default shader and use that for the settings.
