This version of the scene is great. But (and please remember, I'm a contrary sort) I still like the original image the most. It was way far cool.
I agree, I like that one still best too.
The 'original' also took a LOT more time and effort to get right.
Here I only worked on some clouds, that's basically it.

This is a beautiful thing indeed. I remember the original one too. It's very photographic without being super-saturated, something that many landscape photographers seem to have trouble with.
I had to search for the original picture, and I have to say that I prefer the older one. The actual image is great, but the first one is perfect imho.
