Title: Slope constraints and fake stone shader
Post by: luvsmuzik on June 05, 2016, 09:06:49 PM
Like the effect this accident got. I did a surface layer with altitude and slope constraints adding fake stone shader. Fuzzy zone gave me moss....

Good work, number two has an interesting and moody atmosphere but could do with some more tree species and bushes. I'd like to see it rendered at a higher resolution.

Nice work; just guessing you're using the free version so it's a no-go for much more veg but #2 would really benefit from them and a larger res render...also a no go in the free version.

I like the second one. Nice  :)

After 9 renders, 15 minutes each, I have decided to leave this one for awhile. But I love the file. This has fractals on the FSS and a couple of populations. This render is really light to show the moss and rocks.
Oh what I could do with full version!
Thank you all for comments. I know practice is the only way to improve on this stuff, LOL.

I packed three trees in a group of 7 in the second image....loads good. These trees are for groundcover not closeups. No image textures and only 6 materials....Off I go to see about placement on a slope, probably will be quite a trick. I am pretty sure my trees have a few less polys than some individual objects?

I worried for naught. I was afraid the group population would anchor like porcupine quills, instead they did great! I eased up on the atmosphere for this render. Took 18 minutes, not bad IMHO.

I like it but it there's a problem with some trees. Be they float and that did not see their shadows or are they are not shadows.

You are correct Jo Kariboo. I just placed the object grouping in the scene to see if it would load. That terrain is very bumpy and some of the shadows are hidden on the other side of a rise. I fiddled with the trees when I grouped them so they would not be just an array of the same tree over and over. As I said they are for distant ground cover to show a variation of color.

At this point I can't animate a camera path so I am settling for stills to go off and fiddle with in paint programs. Just when I got smaller screen size animations figured out so you could view it on a miniscreen........oh well. Sure do miss larger image file size though! Apps to view on large screen tv....and pixel distortion....grrrrrr!
