Post by: AP on June 08, 2016, 07:19:15 AM
A completely procedural Mars.

Very nice.
Completely, so also the terrain/craters?

Correct. In fact, I rendered at near ground level too see what it would look like. Nothing spectacular by any stretch but was curious given the fact the there was zero consideration to what was done near ground level view.

Very cool on the original and an interesting shot in any case from the ground view

Thank you. All it is missing are some stones and sand. I could place a cirrus cloud formation in there.

The ground shot also has a nice feel, good work. Some stones would be needed indeed.

Thank you. The Stones are not quite what I wanted, not rounded enough and lacking specific smaller details. Fake stones are always an on-going challenge.

That might just be a good start. I seem to recall that thread as well. Thank you for the file.

took me a while to figure out scaling but it's in the top PF that feeds to the Surface layer Displacement in the displacement tab of course, heh heh.

The effect bulges out the shape nicely overall but there are still areas that seem lacking. The usual limitations of the Fake stones shader I run into often. There are still other areas to investigate as well.

I will have to update the stones at some point. Not to accurate but doable for now. Manhunt? The name is familiar. Was he a user here?
