Title: new to terragen 2
Post by: erandur on August 31, 2007, 11:27:46 AM
hi, i'm new to terragen 2, but already made a couple of nice things using terragen 0.9 :D, anyway, i'm using the free non-commercial version, and i wondered, i saw terragen 2 uses a complete planet, but how do you see move your camera around the planet? the only thing i've found so far is orbit and the 'higher-lower thingy, alt+lmb'

also, when i made a map, and i decide to use it for a game, which game engines support terragen 0.9/2 maps, if any?

*edit* i've also seen you can add trees etc. with terragen 2, is there are tutorial somewhere on 'planting' trees? if that is possible witht he free version :)

The section of the current User Guide "Creating Your First Scene" covers moving the camera into orbit: http://forums.planetside.co.uk/index.php?topic=19 I suggest you review all of the available documentation if possible as there is lots of useful info covered.

TG2 and TG 0.9 use the .ter terrain format which can be used directly or indirectly (after conversion) by some game engines. This will only capture the planar terrain shape, not texturing, so TG's use in game production may be limited. More commonly TG renders are used to create skybox backgrounds for games, for example in the Serious Sam series.
