Title: A new ally
Post by: DocCharly65 on August 10, 2016, 12:56:19 AM
Based on my space dock images I just wanted to see some size comparison...

But after I accidently killed my Klingons in an animation (sorry - you must wait...  ;) ) I needed a new ally for exploring the big space bubble...

Anyway I wanted to integrade that Battleship Galactica model  (by "ScyBladeghost" found on celestiamotherlode.net I think) after I spent too much time in retexturing.

I love how the starburst worked  --  perhaps I have overdone the bloom effect a bit.  ;D
For adjusting the size I used the windows size of all the vessels. I think the size ratios should be roughly correct

I think I will try to animate the start of a big spacefleet from that stardock...  ;) Just have to sleep over it to find some funny ideas how to integrate the duck  ;D

Very nice effect of the starbursts and bloom... but it must be on the spectator's visor, due to lack of atmo in space. Old visor probably, scratched by years of space travel  ;)

Thanks Ulco you save my day  :) In fact I had the same thoughts of a kind of "illegal atmosphere" in space  ;D
But your interpretation lets me think of many old space movie scenes I remember which have a similar look  :)

In the animation I will reduce the bloom effect anyway. I must be careful to keep my newer animation in a not too different style and quality from the animations I did in my TG3 beginnings.

Now I'll go on the search for more nice models for the new spacefleet... I think I'll twiggle on my film and it's script for the rest of my life  ;D

Isn't it wonderful to have something to keep you off the street?

Ok - now it's official: I think I finally became definitive nuts ...

I have my allies now - I found almost all of them at celestiamotherlode.net
I will add detailed credits in the final film but in short form:
Models by by bcelestia, jetr and ScyBladeghost
Only the serenity is by darthviper 107 found on foundation 3D.

Night is over and I did some tests in Detail/AA 0.2/2 of the first scene in 100 frame steps.

First scene will be a quick overwiew over the fleet.
Next planned scene will be the start... I'll have sooooo much fun in choreographing that chaos of vessels  ;D ;D

How about your team, Nils? Why not confess that you have 10 co-workers struggling night and day to get this done!

Really love your work here, and can't wait to see the final animation.

OT:
Oh my ... the Serenity ..

I'll have to grab this model and render the hell out of it

Not really, Ulco...  ;D ;D ;D
But my team of fully used TG prof render licences keeps my office hot as hell... and my energy supply company made me a special offer now because I have the energy demand of a six-member family  ;D ;D ;D

thanks hell_fire79 ... nice to find again and again some people with that special scify taste  :) But better you don't trust me - could happen that I let fight the Serenity against the TARDIS ;)

Edit 9.19 AM:

A special thanks to Matt and Oshyan that they have fixed something with the model rendering in TG4. These scenes would almost be unthinkable in TG3 because of the rendertimes.

On the other side I have to admit that I led TG4 to its limits here as well ... No more models without risc of crashing TG4!  ;)

I love nearly all of those ship designs. But still when i see that Eagle something special happens in my heart.
That would be probably the only ship i will build from scratch in the future other then my own ones.

Kadri sometimes I am so in love with all the old TV series and on the other hand I am so amused when starship controls are handles of irons or plastic cups  ;D

My coreography is growing. I have to do many changes every day when I find out that some movements don't work together or don't look interesting.

Here some very small tests for different view angles after the vessels started in in different stages (These are the ful size pics here  ;)  ):

And parallel I worked on some little improvements of the waiting fleet, like a little overdone DOF. I checked many scify movies these days to learn (These are expandable but also low quality with detail/AA 0.2/2).

What a crazy cool project! Love the starburst effect.

I get mad - insane - crazy... when I start one idea, 5 new ideas coming into my mind!
The spacedock-scene + the space bubble scene are about 30 animations now!  :P ::) ??? :o

I am really scared, while rendering them one after the other, to get more ideas to try...

What's happening at the moment...
Just two of the new scenes for testing:

"Spot ON"

"Say good bye"...

Is there still some logic in your movie, Nils? Or is it 'just' a crazy mix of spontaneous ideas? A bit of both I guess.

That's a bit the problem, Ulco.  :)

If I would NOT care about the logic I'd have an easier life. Many of the new scenes are "necessary" to explain others or backgrounds.

But the stardock scenes are a bit different because it's a kind of making ONE (quite long) scene interesting by showing it from many angles.

What I must admit is that with a bit growing knowledge and possibilities I could add new scenes by the time. So one or the other scene also dissappeared. But since the beginnings (about 2 1/2 years ago or even 3? ) there's still the same red line trough the movie. - And the aim 2020!  ;)
