Title: Bed of clouds for some eagles
Post by: DocCharly65 on September 16, 2016, 07:53:44 PM
I saw the preview on NWDA, saw the really fair price and had an idea

So I can give Kadri a chance now for a closer view to the eagles...
I don't know the artist - I didn't find any hint on NWDA - but thanks for that beautiful work. I only needed to move the sun a bit and  filled the scene up with the starship fleet.

I will care about the animation later - just wanted to test a view and do a 3D image ... Have fun :)

I use the "The Eagle from Space 1999 by jestr" which I found on http://www.celestiamotherlode.net/ (http://www.celestiamotherlode.net/) (most of the other models too)

Some very nice models there but mostly for the use in celestia. They need a little work but are quite accurate.

I see. Mandrake made one very detailed Eagle as a TGO file.
But hard to download because of the state of Terragen.org (then Ashundar) website.
But i think your works fine for your needs.

Do I remember that you animated a 3d scene, doc? Or no?

I thought about it some times. But it's just too much to render! Double image each frame.
Perhaps in 5-10 years the PCs are fast enough.

On the other side i have the feeling that 3D is unfortunately getting more and more in the background.

Lots of big traffic and actions for future in this sky. Nice clouds!  :)

Thanks - though I thankfully admit that the clouds are from NWDA  :)

The whole scene is inspired by Kadri's wish to see a bit more from the eagles.
Unfortunately they don't play a big role in the film but for me it's worth 2 x 500 frames :)

In the second part of the scene we'll fly in flight dirction and The eagles, puddlejumpers and the voyager will drift into the scene while passing us. Unfortunately I must wait for testing the flickering glow of the engines, because all my PC capacity is busy.

(the full frame is only Detail 0.1/AA1 Test - the second is just cropped to the eagles)
