Title: Shader question
Post by: luvsmuzik on September 21, 2016, 09:38:19 AM
This is a shader surface layer question.
When adding a new surface layer to a scene, restricted altitude, slope, etc....if you want to add a FSS to that layer, is it better to add it as a child of that layer or just make new surface layer for it?  If added as a child of that layer does it keep the same restrictions as the original or is independent?
I am watching discussion elsewhere about this subject today with interest as I had similar problems with trying to keep the stones color and displacement independent. I try to read the WIKI help, but find examples easier to follow. Thanks in advance.

Everything added as child (or color, or displacement) to a restrictive surface layer is restricted in the same way. Also if you add a new surface layer (with fake stones) as child to said surface layer.
A new surface layer after the first won't have those restrictions, so that would be best for adding the FSS as child to if you don't want the restrictions.

That should do it. Thanks!
