Option 2: No votes: 1
Title: Node Snapping

Just for fun really and too try out this Poll feature ... So would you like Improved Node Snapping so that the nodes automatically align to a grid (maybe based on the height of each node icon)? I personally find it an annoyance always having to tidy up my node structure and a "Snap to Grid" feature would help in this a lot. Not really a request but just wondered what everyone else thought.
Have a great day
Richard

I voted for 'Yes' - as it is already implemented ... but the grid could be a bit wider.

It is although it seems a bit flaky, its hard sometimes to get nodes to line up beneath each other. I'll edit to show Improved Node snapping :)

That would be nice... but not as nice as being able to click and drag to select a load of nodes at a time, to group them for instance  ;D

I would like to be able to drag a bounding box and select multiple nodes. (maybe thats what mr-miley is talking about)

sonshine777, thats right, exactly what I was talking about. I find it rather annoying  >:( having to select a whole load of noads by shift clicking, when they are all sitting there in one big block crying out for a click and drag  ;D

Isn't that what the 'group capture' node context option does already?
Of course, it means you must have all the selected nodes that are to be dragged in their own group box to do this but you can move as many nodes as you capture inside the group box at the same time.

Or you can copy the group - or selecting the group with its nodes and solely deselect by shift-click the group's frame ... or ... ,-)

Drag selection is on the list of things to do.

Question is "Drag Selection" the same thing as what is more generally referred to as area selection or are we talking about what is called in other applications Marquee Selection has I have not encountered the term Drag Selection  before? For the sack of commonality in terminology and the reduction of feature creep could industry standard naming conventions (Please) be used where possible in TG2?

I have in the past when encountering the term Drag Selection done a Google search but did not find any thing.

Regards to you.

Cyber_Angel, I think Jo, sonshine777 and I are talking area selection (which I always presumed to be the same as marquee selection). Depending what software you use you would either slick to define one corner and then click to define the opposite corner, or (my preference) you click for one corner, and keeping your finger on the mouse button drag till all the nodes you want to select are encompassed by the box you have dragged. let go of the button and they are selected.

Kind of a drag isn't. ;D

The terminology for this feature varies from software to software, I don't think there is a standard.

Do the polls support a 'Meh' option?   :)

If there was a standard I bet it would be different for PC and Mac  ;)

Cool :) shift clicking nodes is starting to really annoy me especially as you get more and more nodes.

It would be cool if we could adjust the snapping grid size but maybe at this stage it isn't exactly a priority.

Standard things I would imagine for node snapping would be configurable snap size, option to show a grid or not and the ability to toggle snapping on and off.

Jo
