Post by: bobbystahr on September 28, 2016, 01:59:02 PM
This is one of the best-known trick that allows you to use your Pendrive as a RAM for your system, so as to increase the general boot up speed and also the operational speed of your system.

STEPS:-
1. Insert your Pen drive
2. Wait for the PC to detect the pen drive.
3. After detecting it, Right click on My Computer–> Properties.
4. Go to Advanced–> Performance Settings.
5. In it Advanced–> Change.
6. Select the Pen Drive & click on Custom Size.
7. Check the value of space available
8. Enter the same value in the Initial and Max columns.
9. Now restart your PC.

Now, space of Pen Drive as a Virtual Memory.

I have a 64 G lexar drive  I was thinking of trying on this old box to aid TG4 till my cash/new computer arrives.. Comments please.

Real RAM is of course better, and I think it really depends on the fastness of the pendrive (you're talking about USB stick?), and you shouldn't take it out I guess. But I'm no expert.

I tried this but didn't notice any different speed-wise. But I guess it can help TG so you can have more models in a scene?

A pen drive has a woefully slow bus speed compared to real RAM. I've tried this a long time ago...
RAM. Buy RAM.
