Title: PoseRay question
Post by: archonforest on October 20, 2016, 05:24:04 AM

Loading a complex object with tons of textures but the prg stops with a Out of Memory message. Since I have plenty of ram it cannot be the case.
Any idea what is going on? Does anyone encountered the same? Any idea how to handle it?

Perhaps it can't handle your RAM? Maybe it's only 32bits (wild guess)? Did you flush the memory? I think that's possible in Poseray.

Poseray is just 32 bit..............I've had this happen a lot. It's better than what it used to be, but if you have a model with bunches of polys it usually runs out of memory before the textures load.  ???

Wow that makes sense! It is a 32bit prg and cannot handle more than 4Gb of ram....
Sh...t but what can I do now? Is there any prg that is 64 bit and can do the same as PR? And free?

Blender ?

I had to break some of my models to smaller parts when needed because of this.

Just went on the PW site and there it says the version 3.7 is actually contains both 32/64 bit versions. I will test this as it seems I have an earlier version...

PoseRay or POV-Ray ? PoseRay is still 3.13.29 ?
