Title: Product Visual Differences
Post by: SpacePioneer on October 24, 2016, 10:08:40 PM
There's a high chance that I'll be getting Terragen 4 soon, but how much of, and what, visual differences are there between the best you can get from the Creative version and the normal/above average of the Professional version? Photos would be highly appreciated. I know that the Professional version has lot more features than the Creative, but how much difference do those actually make, or are they mostly just nitpicking things that provide more detail and more control, more effects you can get, etc.?

The primary differences between the Creative and Professional versions don't really come down to how "good" you can make your scenes look. The Creative version can render at detail and antialiasing levels the same as the Professional version, can use as many populations (unlimited), can use the same cloud and atmosphere shading, and all the rest.

The main differentiating features of the Professional version are features aimed at professional use, often import/export-related, such as render layers and elements, EXR output, and terrain geometry output, FBX, and spherical camera, or georeferencing. None of those things are really going to affect quality or create a "visual difference" between renders from each version. It's more about how flexible and interoperable Terragen becomes.

I assume you've seen the comparison page? http://planetside.co.uk/terragen-product-comparison/
