As of now if i buy TG2 Deep + Animations
can i use network rendering?
any way of accessing that?
also what is the price for nodes?
I'm not sure what the price for additional nodes is. There is no built-in networking, but you can write a command line script. As for multithreading, it's what Matt is working on right now.
Most of the TG2 networking queries and potential solutions seem to be here (http://forums.planetside.co.uk/index.php?topic=68.0). Network rendering with TG2 is still not particularly great because, at this stage in development, new features and bug fixes appear to be the main priority. That's also why it's not clear how much additional nodes cost.
I wasn't aware there would be an extra price for other nodes. I hope not.
Hi,
When you buy the Deep + Animation you get a certain number of nodes included. I think you do in the Deep version as well, but it's more with the Animation stuff. I don't know if we sell extra nodes yet. I will try and get someone who knows more about this stuff to answer your question with specifics.
Regards,
Jo
thank you
want to render using about 19 computers
1 main one would be fine
You get 3 additional render nodes with a Deep purchase and 5 with a Deep + Animation purchase. The render nodes are in addition to your base workstation license. Additional render nodes will be sold separately. Pricing for these will be announced with the launch of the final product later this year. If you have a more immediate need for additional nodes you may contact registrations@planetside.co.uk to discuss the possibility of an early purchase.
Currently there is no built-in facility to manage render nodes. We recommend use of a 3rd party management solution, although we do not specifically endorse any one solution at this time. There are a number of free and commercial possibilities that should work with it. I know there is discussion of Condor and other options being tried elsewhere in the forums (a search here should turn up more info). In the future we may provide a built-in management solution but node management is generally already a solved problem for the audience targeted by multiple nodes - high-end users and studios - so fitting into an existing node management system is paramount.

well
thank you
;D
I had no idea I got that.
Oshyan, how do I check to see that I'm getting the right version? I believe I should have the Deep-Animation version.
Currently there is no simple indication within the application that Animation functions are available. That information should be available in the About box in the final version. For now you can simply check one of the animation buttons next to a parameter (these buttons look like a spline curve in an s-shape followed by an 'A') and see if it has the "Set Keyframe" function on it. If so you have Animation enabled.

I just thought I'd mention that I'm releasing the source code of my terragen-specific '3rd party management solution' soon. Help with adding new features (like the stitching together of frame fragments), and improving old features, would be greatly appreciated because I have virtually no time left to make significant progress any more. The only thing which may put proper programmers off helping is that it's virtually entirely made using NSIS (http://nsis.sourceforge.net/) and its plugins.
Thanks, Oshyan. I do have this and have not even put it to use yet. In time...
