Title: Roraima
Post by: Jo Kariboo on November 28, 2016, 11:37:16 PM
Roraima... ???
A very free inspiration of some strange landscape that one finds on the top of Mount Roraima.
xfrog vegetations
I started this series from the "The Ramp Clean" file by Andy Wachelder.

Lovely and surrealistic environments. I really admire your artistic sensibilities, beautiful work!

Great terrain to explore and some wonderful renders. A pity about some inverted areas (always a problem with redirect, lateral displacement and/or vdisp), but they're hardly noticed anyway. I think I like f best.

Marvelous!

I like that slightly surrealistic jungle very much but my absolutely favorite is oi2fe.jpg with the clouds hanging between the rocks. Very nice!

So that's where everybody is at. Without a facebook account you can't access anything. I still refuse  8)

That attitude is just not correct about Facebook. You all know that activity is tracked no matter where you visit online. I firmly believe that any opportunity to further expand the use and capabilities of Terragen should be utilized. Is there any documentation about downloads and purchases of Terragen related to this forum or Facebook? I put one image up on FB and was asked by a friend if I sold my stuff, bad as I am at it. Perhaps this person was only fishing to see if I had a sideline home business, but I do not think so, as I went to school with her for years.

Maybe not, but I just have that principle, and I think TG stuff needs to be where it belongs, at a Planetside dedicated forum. I don't really care if TG users who only visit Facebook won't see what I have to offer or make, too bad for them  8) .....  :)

 ;)

Ahahahah a big debate with 3 peoples. I think that this unfortunately denotes a discomfort.
Why so many people leave this type of forum concept. I remember a time when there was of hundreds and more people submitting images here. At present we are only a minority.
I think forums like here need to be redesigned to look for members who produce and agree to show what they are doing.
I do not think it's normal that we are always the same to bid for competitions.
Where are all the others?

I have no sollution for a new type of forum concept that would attract the faithful as in the past, but I have nothing against participating on Facebook.

If the formula of the site here would be winning it would be by its great participation of its members. But force to believe that this is not the case, is not it?

I think those who had the idea to launch the Terragen page on Facebook had an excellent idea.
The ideal would be to find a concept that would benefit everyone and make a community more dynamic than we are.  8)

You're right, we're left with a minority, and the fun is slowly (quickly) fading. If everybody just looks, learns (and grabs) here and then goes to post and share on Facebook, what good would it be to continue here? Feedback is scarce, so I really consider leaving too. I don't know if another formula would work, perhaps the shifting is inevitable....

Sorry to hijack your thread, btw.

I use facebook very sparingly, it often times is very bad and very addictive (especially around election times). This forum however, is by far the Gold Standard for learning to use Terragen, and the help from experts like Dune, Tangled-Universe, the Planetside staff, and others is invaluable. I greatly appreciate their time, help, insights, and work. However, because TG can deliver really cool images/anim, there will always be other places to see its work, but this forum really is the center of the TG universe. I hope it stays that way. Long live the forum!

My apologies for the hijacking as well... :-[  I detest Facebook! Mark Zuckerberg has become an ideologue and since Facebook is not a journalistic media Zuckerberg can influence the politics and opinions thru his personal biases on what can be considered "Fake" or "True". The fact that per recent surveys "Millenials" (hate that term) are gathering their primary understanding of domestic (US) and World affairs thru Facebook is appalling and frightening. I deleted my Facebook presence (which was never large) after twice being 'hacked' with dozens of new 'Friends' including armed jihaddi's and young women of questionable appearance. I've watched our grown children engage in spiteful posting wars after breakups. I've seen the incredible zombie like states of the Social Media addicts as they flow from one update to another barely noticing the world around them. The thought of wading into that cesspool to enjoy TG is a nightmare. I suspect that the current activity level on this Forum is more about the TG user base than Facebook vs. Forum.

So once again Pierre, sorry for the hijack rant. Your work always is a joy, please continue to share these images here, at the true home of all things Terragen!

Well, I've said it before and will do so again.   When I post my images in this forum I get really good feedback about how to improve them, or improve my techniques.  That's important to me and why I'm posting here.
In other art forums it too often seems the entire point is just to hear people say nice things about the images, and those are pretty much the only comments that are made.
Far as I'm concerned, if I want fawning enthusiasm I'll get a damn dog.

Apologies for also hijacking the thread ...

I think what some TG enthusiasts (would be or past) discover is, that to use Terragen you need examples unless you are a genius. If that is the case, make everyone pass a test, maybe for intelligence and computing power, in order to download it. The tutorial links have dwindled due to a few dedicated exhausting themselves. I will never believe anyone loses the desire to create with this program. I have received help I probably don't deserve, and tried to apply it countless times since joining this forum. I do not mind being told I am wrong, confused, disillusioned, but each user deserves some respect. If I lose internet service again I will attempt to download any new versions elsewhere and still amuse myself with that. I comment when I like something not because I need friends. I agree users who are not watching progress here are losing something. BTW, I am a mother, not a father, but have I ever cried when you called me a guy?

Well that makes 2 confirmed women here with Lyla, Lady of the Lake. Gotta wonder why more women don't jump on board....we had the same syndrome in Imagine3d, only met 2 women modelers there and I have had it since it hit the pc from the Amiga.

I think Dune's point was that to not even say thanks when a solution is given makes one less likely to offer help to a thankless member in the future and that only hurts the community. I prefer posting here as the images display way better than FB and I get very helpful feedback, but I duplicate post most images there as I have many non TG friends who'd never see them other wise and I value my connections with my friends there who appreciate my graphics and music.
