I've been sorta out of the loop on and off, but I would hope there is some link or a quick explanation on how maintenance will work. If I upgrade to Professional TG4 today, what do I lose if I don't maintain this program on 12-26-2017 and is there a way to know what I would be paying yearly for maintenance, once I have upgraded to the latest version?
This might help a little:

Thanks Kadri! I appreciate this and asked my burning question with hopes to clarify what's important to me. :)
...but, I'll ask it here in case no one sees the other thread until later. This answer is important to me to decide to get on board with the latest Terragen or to weight.
To be clear, does this maintenance idea mean we can skip one year's maintenance (or even two year's worth of maintenance) only to pick it up again at the next time we decide for the same price? Or will there be, like The Foundry, additional charges if we don't keep updated every time maintenance is due by deciding to wait a year or more?

There are no penalties for waiting. You can delay buying maintenance and get it when there's an update you want. However, we can't guarantee that maintenance prices will stay the same over time.

Matt, my only hope is we aren't penalized for missing a year or two of maintenance. If so, I'll be disappointed. If ever use Terragen to make my money, I could justify its use in this setting, I suppose. As it is, upgrading every three or four years or even five years has been just fine for me.

Not me.
Share the concerns about maintence though... However, that is because some other companies are such total bastard f**k heads. Could really be a good thing in thoery. Just dont see many examples around... Lots of promices though.
Anyway, tg does not cost 4 thousand dollars or charge 150 a month. so not really the same thing.
sorry, been a while since I ranted here and this is a fine topic. :P
Doing without the rendered preview has been pretty tough so when TG4 came out I really needed to have it. Trying to frame an object in the camera when it is just a box is very time consuming.
