Very pretty! Great blend on those rocks! I too wish you could make those wings just a little translucent, but in shadow, very well done!

Looks about right based on the ones I see feeding here in the summer

Hummingbirds I most commonly see are quite tiny, 8 or 9 cm., and can be mistaken for large hawk moths, so I made the size appropriate to my eye. Also the cholla cactus should probably be bigger in relation to the scene. Did make the bird wings alpha about half transparent, but could have used more maybe.

not much bigger here...1/2 the size of a sparrow would be a larger one.

Agree, where I live hummingbirds and butterflies fight over the zinnias and are similar in size to the larger butterflies. There are also a few area specific types. They will also chase a large dragon fly away from a feeder. Quite amusing to watch.
