and this happened on my screen...a WIP status pic so C&C welcome
Nice models and nice render. A little real ivy would be nice along those walls. One thing that strikes me; the roof construction; not very efficient in coping with rain, I suppose.
indeed pretty cool one bobby! ;)
I was going to say b4 I saw dune's comment, that roof needs guttering!!!!
nice image bobby
New roofing in fact, by a pro preferably!
Comments noted and in fact the building which was part of a comp I got into and not modeled by me though I did make the book shelves and books. The gutters are a must. Ivy will be grown when the building is complete and was intended but it was late at night...Pretty creepy characters eh, found em on line years ago and lost em in my files till Saturday. Gonna keep it gloomy; suits the story in there.

Heh heh, I'll send you the .obj if y wanna tackle it. You're the only pro I know
Nice one bobby.
No thanks, Bobby. But you guys did notice my specific crits, did you not? Rooftiles are laid under eachother instead of over eachother topdown. Good for a nice shower inside the store ;D
Unless this is a very dry area and rain is not an issue at all... :P
I missed that about the tiles on wrong way and me in the building trade as well!!!
Well heck, the scene is neat. Those dudes are well placed. I like what you did with burst on your lamps. While I am not in home construction, your bookstore front is also missing a stone face there in the front, maybe intentional behind the bench? Except for the actual building, the rest of your models are great! Good lighting as well.
A weathered sign saying Book Store (or whatever) would be nice.
Or a bleached inscription on the wall.
Although..., these guys look pretty suspicious, might be a fake store anyway. ;)
Broke and bored on a Saturday night, and hanging out at a book store? No women either. Confess Bobby, you've always been a nerd musician! ;). Seriously though, I always enjoy your 'story' illustrations. But with that car I'd be crusing for some ladies! ;D

The owner of the Alfa Romeo is in the back having a wiz...heh heh heh...they have gathered to play poker after hours and were waiting for old zombie man to shuffle up....

Actually I have a bookstore sign that is supposed to hang on the store front but as I'm redoing the texture on the store I held off on the signage.
Also I've made some gutters that need adding as well as soon as I figure how to get them on in PoseRay as my Deep Exploration disappeared when I had a trojan infection on this dell pre corsair and I've lost the install...did all my modeling and texturing in that app...sigh.
As you know already, Blender imports and exports (except tgo) just about anything and does all that join and group stuff easily. I am a novice on UV maps, but I am sure you could get it in a flash. Besides lots of tutorials online for loads of basic and complex modelling.

I am considering it again. Haven't tried it since it was all undecipherable right and left click but apparently they made it out of DOS. The price is certainly what I can afford.

Oh I see what you're on aboot
now...they need a course the reverse orientation to the top ones under the joints...as in:

Ah, you're awake, Bobby ;)
In Poseray you load an object, then load another object that needs fitting onto it. In the file import tab, there's a button "merge". First you choose the earlier imported object from the dropdownlist of earlier imported files, and then hit that 'merge' button, and they are merged. Very easy. They should fit of course, or you'd have to make one part invisible and move the other, but that's tedious.

Thanks...I recall all that, it's the question of manipulating them in PoseRay that baffles me. Gonna give blender a shot as I need a modern modeler and it seems the best of the free ones which is all I can really afford...it's 2 A M here and I've had a hard day trudging around in deep snow so I'm outa here for some zzzzzz's.
Nice set up and light! :)
Acted on all advice given, turned out there was a roof under that poly wise huge incorrect roof so I binned that and then as RayTrace isn't really needed for the building I enabled forced displacement and used that to pretty good effect on the roof. I deleted the wimpy ivy that came with the model and grew my own which is pleasing to me. Spent a part of today getting rid of the noise around the lights and can do it but as this is a proof of concept WIP I figgered to save that for a Final as it's likely to 8-10 hours based on my tests. I can't fix that door so the final will have a bit of photoshop magic to 'fill the gap'....C&C welcome before I go to Final if anyone has mare input. Thanks for the help.
Looks pretty good, Bobby. The sign is a bit more blurry now, but that can be age. Overall quite an improvement. The roof could now be a slate roof, kind of.

Thanks Ulco. If I could move that freakin' door I'd be a lot happier but it'll have to be photoshop-ed, I did find my slate textures after this was done so I'm mos def gonna do another. I'm really gonna have to get back to building my own...Hope Blender likes me better this time around.....

I've found Blender seems to work better when used in conjunction with your favorite liquor.

Unfortunately I'm 22+ years dry now...maybe I need stronger pot...heh heh
Much better now. :)
Do yourself a favour and learn Wings3D Bobby, much easier and less confusing.
Modeling wise it's definitely better than many other apps.
Blender is still enervating, although it's a bit better nowadays. Useful for some things
Wings can't do.
And Cycles is quite nice.

That's why you need the liquor ;)
Nice improvements!
Good that I read the other posts before I wanted to talk about that door... ;D
Jochen is right - give it a chance. Most things I repair with wings3D too. Still not very easy but I think that's the problem of my lazy old brain :D
If it's just a door you need, send it along, Bobby.

sent it to you in an email
With the fixed door but while lining the windows up I turned off the terrain and forgot to turn it back on. Off to a Sat. jam session presently but have time to post the error so Ulco can see his work...thanks again man.
terrain added in, AA up to 11,
Cool Bobby, glad it worked. The problem with this model is that the groundfloor hasn't got a 'basement', so the building kind of floats a little in the left corner. I always make my buildings with some extra range into the negative Y. I could have pulled it down a little of course, but I forgot.

I have a scale-able foundation cube I use and had noticed that and meant to add a 1 step up foundation. Chasing other shadows tonight...played bluegrass(not my favorite) for about 3 hrs pretty much non stop and my hands are cramping but happy. Render times aren't atrocious so I may do one more. Tomorrow
To obscure little faults like that, you can always paint in a little line and add some grass.

thanks Hannes...a fun one. It's fun to be able to type AA 11 in my comment and have it be true...still getting
Not Responding spinning wheel from time to time though, and sluggish window/tab changes
Glad that it worked with the door :)
Nice final!
