Title: No sun
Post by: yossam on January 24, 2017, 02:14:54 AM
There is no sun lighting this scene, there is an .exr on a background node mapped spherically providing the illumination. The car paint and chrome shaders are provided by Hannes. Grass is from Ulco...............all I did was put it all together.  ;D

Nice! Like the lawn next to OCC's office  :)

Perhaps a little bit more contrast?

All right. Now I see....a great red mustang very shiny with a clear and almost clear milky white reflective surface. (I see the cycle and grass, etc. too) Is my unit picking up all the color? I understand what you are saying you did here with the background EXR, but do not know if my puter reads it as it is supposed to.
I have lots of huge HD sky jpg from scenic real life, can that be used as a spherical background map as well?
Are you using global illumination also?
In any case, great!

Hmmmm, no sun indeed, but also no shadows. I guess this one would look way better with the usual lighting.

"no sun you don't do it like that, you do it like this".......(quote from my old man many moons ago)

The exr or true hdr images will provide lighting by luminosity but do not produce cast shadows only self shading, but you can just position a Terragen sun of low intensity to make whatever level and direction of cast shadows you want to see.

Same grass as in the first pic..............think it's the lighting difference.  :P
