Title: Revisiting my Chinese Wall Scene..
Post by: bobbystahr on June 18, 2017, 12:18:15 PM
....I decided the best part was the lovely White Mallee forest so got rid of the the wall and gate, replaced the path lighting with  a rebuilt lamp poplation and tediously place 18 lights in the lamps. Kinda happy with this...the translucence og the lamp glass pleased me most.
C&C welcome.

I actually quite like this. A nice, surreal feeling, sort of magical.

Thanks Oshyan, quite accidental but I thought that after the fact as well.

Actually, I would change the sky to something with some clouds, very low sun to light the clouds underneath a bit, and an orangy sky-ish thing. Like a sunset and the lights come on. Nice trees.

Well there are very soft clouds and lowering the sun behind them may well produce a nicely painted sky. In mid render on another experiment but will stick this in the queue...thanks

That's probably one of the nicest things about Terragen that you can use and reuse the same scene achieving completely different results. :)

If I were you, I would probably reduce the lamp luminosity / lightsource intensity. A tad too sharp light in an otherwise serene, relaxing, evening landscape.

Love this one! Also wonder what a slight reflective would do to the lampost shader.....probably kick render time out of sight...
Nice reflection on the path!

no doubt, and so I resisted using hannes' cast iron but may in the future with that lamp.

overall, I like. Wonder if dialing back the lamp brightness a tad would help or hurt?
