Title: Autumn Sky
Post by: Njen on September 17, 2007, 07:14:22 AM
Just a quick one this time, going back to my cloud studies. Foreground is a bit blah, but I wasn't really focused on that, just the sky.

I finally found a really good set up for spotty altocumulus clouds. Probably needs a little more tweaking, but as it it, it works well. I included those clouds with this post, I hope they are of use to someone.

That is some lovely redshift and clouds you have there.     :)

Very nice. I love your clouds. I like your mountain shape to. Especially the upper left one.
But it would be a lot better if you gave the terrain some more textures. I know this wasn't your main focus, but I think it would be great :)

Thank you for the kind comments.

sjefen: I agree with you 100% I have found that at the moment I am not as strong on getting my ground terrains as nice and detailed as I hoped, so it's good to read others solutions on this area. But what I do think I am getting stronger at are cloud formations, which is why I like to share cloud setups more.

I have another cloud file I am working on to share soon...

Wow. One of the best renders I've seen. I really like the billowy nature of the clouds that you've managed to incorporate.

I think this actually comes very close to the clouds Harvey captured in a recent post of his (which many people said weren't yet possible to duplicate ;D): http://forums.planetside.co.uk/index.php?topic=2352.0 (2nd picture)

Hi all,

im new with TG2 and if i try to insert your .tgc File comes the following Errors:

SetParamFromString: UnknownParameter: "base_wispiness" in class:cloud_layerV2
and "base_Softness" for the same Layer.
I can render this but i see only a grey Background then. Can you help me please ?

Greetings Thunder

Yes. Because in the new version we have som new options for those things.
We have sliders for base wispiness and base softness
I guess njen have used these to. Try turning them both on. You may not get the same result tho.

Yeah.... sorry about that. Just wanted to help him out. Figured it was no point in starting a new thread for this since he had already asked the question.
Anyway..... I still like your image njen ;D

The clip file should still work despite the errors. When the update becomes available for the free version shortly those errors should go away.

I think it's because I am a registered user and I use the latest build which is not available yet to the free version yet (unless I am mistaken). In the latest build, those features are not check boxes anymore, rather they are sliders which you can assign a certain amount of these attributes.

You may have to wait for the latest build to hit the free version to get these working properly.

Likewise; only just seen this.

The low level clouds are excellent! I have not had a real play with the new sliders yet.  I almost didn't see the detail in the alto layer; thanks for the clip I am just off to give it a try  :)
