Title: Volumetric Clouds of Vue 6
Post by: dhavalmistry on September 18, 2007, 01:14:23 PM
I know this doesnt sound like a TG2 topic but there is something I was wondering if one could do in vue6....

I heard that Vue 6 has some good volumertic cloud presets and Vue also has an option where you can convert anything as object (internally and not .OBJ)

so...can you not convert a cloud (metaballs) into object and then export as .OBJ and then maybe bring it into TG2

You could, but it wouldn't be specular, would have to have a huge poly count, and would pale in comparison to TG2's clouds anyways.

yeah...I was just thinking in getting basic shape....and then somehow applying cloud fractal to it......which I think wont retain the original shape.....

Why not just create some random blobs or meta-ball objects of the rough shape you want in any other modeling software?

I am curious if you could do that and apply a cloud fractal and it would give you control over cloud shapes.

At the moment AFIK you cant properly apply a cloud shader to an object. the result ends up solid black and white, no soft depth to it. Maybe in the final version ... I dont know.

I agree.  TG2 clouds are better than any program I've seen, including Vue 6.

Yes. Terragen's clouds are really something, but it would be nice if you had more control over them. Sometimes it's really hard to get the result you are looking for.
I would love to have the ability to import any object and apply a cloud shader to it.

I agree with sjefen. An accurate control over cloud placement would be a great feature for TG2. There is some possibile workaround, but it's quite complicated

Yes, that would be cool.
