Well, maybe not rotten but "moldy". ;) Apparently, many people have reported issues with some of their content gone missing despite the files connecting to that content being in the right place and installed!
Looks like something has gone wrong in the latest release. I myself got all stock and custom presets wiped out along with some morphs. Luckily, it's simple to restore the missing items by just overwriting the "phantom" ones in the library. But still... It looks like some of the files have mysteriously detached themselves from the GUI...
I think the whole file system is a mess anyway. Very hard to control, and search for things. So I don't use it often, just for the basic poses.

Yes, I know. Things are grouped according to the usage but apart from that it's pure catch wrestling - each vendor and content provider packs their stuff into folders named after them and it becomes a mess pretty quickly.
I no longer supply my library with the content "as is". Instead, I download an item, look where it "landed" and then transfer it to where it should be. This way, I managed to nicely clean up my Poser-format contents... which I happen to use most of the time.
Maybe something will change soon. I noticed that there is a tendency lately for the content providers to actually give a proverbial (;) ;)) as to where their products go. Modern DAZ-format releases does not require any other action than direct unpacking really... Which is nice.
But anyway, even if the DS directories are left to their own and become a clusterfuck, content should never ever disappear just like that. Something is wrong with how the program reads content directories.
So, luckily, I am not the only one who is struggling with it. I rarely use it, but every time I use DAZ Studio I have the feeling that I have to learn everything again from the beginning.

I completely understand. I use it to export models I like into TG and render HD-people to incorporate in my renders.
Version 4.10 is worst up to date. The forum is literally flooded with missing content / phantomized items support requests! In the morning I read a post by some guy who claims that DS crash has disconnected his GPU! :o :o Say whaaaa??? Can you imagine something like that?!
By the way, what version of DS do you use René? If it happens you have an installer for 4.8 somewhere, I would love to have it! DAZ Studio is free to download, so I guess one can share these files freely.
