Title: Limiting Populations by slope, height.
Post by: chadkruger on September 29, 2007, 12:08:05 PM
I'm sure this has already been covered here so perhaps someone can direct me to the appropriate thread, but how can you limit your populations by slope and height (if this is possible)?

Any advice greatly appreciated.

use distribution shader as density shader of the population.....

can't you use a surface layer as density shader too ?

Just remember that if you use a Surface Layer as distribution, unless the color is 100% white then it will not affect coverage in the way you expect - it will interpret the color as if it were luminosity on a black-to-white scale. It's therefore most intuitive in general to use a Distribution Shader.

I'll get it a shot.   Thanks!

For fun, and some interesting results, you could also try a Cloud Shader as a Blender Shader for a population.  It sort of helps to scatter things around pretty naturally.
