Title: Smoothing Filter on Functions
Post by: WAS on April 29, 2018, 03:16:06 PM
I was trying to use the smoothing filter on a voronoi noise filter from a get position in texture, but the smoothing filter is unable to smooth them. Is there a way around this? Fractalize, and most other shaders work fine on them.

I had an idea of making super easy procedural craters using the smoothing filter for rim spread, and rim sharpness, etc, making it a lot easier than playing with clamps and colour adjusts yielding hard shapes.

It is only able to smooth shaders that have been specifically programmed to respond to it, and that is quite a small set of shaders at the moment. We won't be able to make every combination of nodes work. But we will keep the following document up to date with any future changes:

Oh I see. Thanks for the input. Would love to see it work with the Noise filters.

Smoothing filters works on Vector Displacement/Dispalcement and the Redirect Shader I notice too. Though PFs at their bases.
