this is my first try at fake transparent water technique using sonshine's way
I gotta get some more people on the beach!... ;)
I am uploading the updated render for comparison.....I got the blue color right (I think)...I still need to work on the green color.....
added the final version for comparison....
Wow, nice one! I think maybe you should blend in some blue-green texturing for the underwater bit, but the scene as a whole looks nicely realistic already.
- Oshyan
yeah thanx... I was trying that but I couldnt figureout how to apply a gradient to water colour.......
Agree with Oshyan, but this does fantastic as is. Any chance for an HQ version?
Looking really lovely, very realistic, can almost see the shadow of the plane :) I do agree about the bluish/green for the near shore underwater texture, sorry, no idea how to do that though :)
Richard
You could do two surface shaders below the water level that have the bluish/green tones to them then render that as your underwater image. Don't get too bright, try to make it subtle. Just a thought :)

yes thats exactly what I thought too but thought of doing it in photoshop....but now that I think about it....it would be better if I did that in TG....will give it a try in morning....currently rendering an HQ version...
nice !
Cool job. Looks like some place I want to be. Great.
UPDATED!!
Looking great, this is coming along very nicely. I'll have to get my head around this technique soon.
Richard
Looking great, but if that's sand on the beach then I would expect the water to appear lighter at the shore not darker. Keep up the good work!
i prefer the first one :)
in the second one, the blue is too.... errrr... blue.... i don't know if you understand what i mean ^^
but it's only a matter of personal taste :)
I'm with Seth. The water looks more natural (to me) on the first one.
I have to agree I prefer the first one.
Here's a stupid question: I know it looks cool but can't we wait a couple of months for proper transparent water? In the final version allegedly :D
P.S. Nice work.
I think I am gonna stick with fake method as it takes much less time to render compared to real transparency method...although it wouldnt be accurate as the real transparent water but in scenes like these, you can get away with it,.....
just a little update....I know its not much but trust me....its hard and frustrating....
It's a cool scene but water transparency would be essential to get this looking at it's best, especially with the very light beach colour.
yeaaah very nice ^^
much much better water !
Agree with Seth !
Very great work !
Did I hear someone say Gilligan's Island? Keep on this. In my opinion, it looks promising.

there is water transparency workaround applied to the scene but the green color gradient takes it away...if you look at the top right corner...you will see......I guess I messed up the mask for rest of the area...making the blending mask was tedious and painfull as I did the whole thing with hand in photoshop....and I dont even have a tablet....
I hope someday you will get a tablet.

another update.....a better one.... :)
amazing Oo
you should put your clouds back (perhaps you did and it was not so good looking...) because they add realism (IMO)
the trees on the second island... i don't know... something's strange to me... perhaps something else on this island... it seems a little empty to me ^^
Very nice work! I agree that some clouds in there would add realism, and I also think that you should get rid of that other island (if possible).
ya this was just a rough draft....I am still working some little details....

yes...the background island will be hidden due to clouds
Bravo , it's a beautiful work !
Yes. Much better. Except now I can't hear Giligan's Island theme song. ;D
I think its about time I wrap this project up...it has given me enough headaches....
I might be doing a HQ version with ray tracing enabled.....
Beautiful.
This is looking great, I don't blame you for wanting to move on to something else. My only tiny crit is the shore line, its too sharp (imho). I know your using the photoshop transparency technique, so I don't really know if this will work but could you add a very slight wet zone along the shore to help blend it in to the sea. Just the sand shader but slightly darker and extending up to a foot above sea level (or whatever scale your on) would do the trick.
Richard
yeah I thought of doing that and adding waves in photoshop......but may be some other day....I have been up all night watching cricket and I am just tired rite now.....thanx for the critics everyone....
very very good creation ! good job dude !
