Title: Sputnik ~ 50 years old today
Post by: cyphyr on October 04, 2007, 08:04:04 PM
Was going to do something completely different today but when I started up Google, well there was a pic of good ol' Sputnik. Not too happy how this turned out especially the earth but I didn't spend too muck time on her.

Thanks for lookin'

Richard

A nice bit of whimsy. I personally like seeing renderings that aren't too serious. Maybe it's to cover up the fact that I couldn't successfully execute a serious image to save my life.

;D

Whimsy :) not a word I've heard in a while but absolutely spot on :) And don't put your self down, at least you got a life ;) I live behind a PC screen TG'ing far too much, its probably a known medical condition, terragenaholism maybe.

The noise I only just tracked down, I had my earth map plugged into the Colour image channel of a Default Shader that was then linked to Planet 01. Removing the Default Shader and plugging an Image map shader directly into Planet 01 got rid of the noise. Fine in this instance but I'm unclear how to avoid the issue should I wish to use displacements and other combinations on the planet without going through a Default shader. Re rendering with improved settings now.
