Post by: dhavalmistry on October 06, 2007, 09:11:02 PM
I need some directions on saving tiff files so that it embeds transparency and can use alpha channel as blending shader (mask)

I have been struggling since 2 hours now and I am coming up with nothing....

Assuming we're talking about photoshop here?

Copy your image to a new layer, delete unwanted areas, in layers window - drag background layer to trash can, save as TIFF

Save layers is checked in the save dialogue box? If not, the image will be flattened and you lose the transparency.

The XFrog leaves don't have extra channels.  You don't need them with a transparent, layered tiff. Screengrab of the opacity settings for an Xfrog leaf attached.

You can also use a greyscale image of the transparency mask as the opacity map (Xfrog obj's ship with one as an alternative). This can be used for some cool animation tricks when combined with a colour adjust shader....
