Title: Au petit matin
Post by: Antoine on December 12, 2019, 09:39:43 AM
Here  is a new scene I have made recently. Gaea was used for the mountain. The rocks and some textures are from The rock essentials and Poliigon.
This has been rendered with the path tracer engine.

This already gets a big thumbs op from me simply because you dare to have 90% of the surfaces in the shade, something not many do/dare.

I also like it you chose a not so common aspect ratio for your image, but in order to make it really work I think the foreground needs some more interesting details.
The rocks are a nice addition, especially the one on the left I think integrates well in the scene. The one on the right not so much I'm afraid.
Perhaps a bit cheesy suggestion, but something like a path through grasses towards the lake will compositionally help the viewer to see the nice lighting on the mountain.
At the moment there's not really a "leading eye".

Else it just looks pretty solid to me, I like seeing your work every time!

Like Martin, I absolutely love the majority being in shadow (i.e. indirect lighting, perfect for Path Tracing). The foreground beach is very convincing too, except perhaps for the closest rock and I'm not quite sure about the rock stack on the right side a bit further back. But overall it's really spectacular, the lighting (again) is incredible!

Thank you !
That was the purpose of this scene : mostly in shadow that is great for pathtracing. Also because I like this kind of sunrise atmosphere.
I will try to update this scene with some foreground improvement. I will try also to reactivate the DOF (I wanted originally) but without the noise reduction.

Looking at this a 2nd time I noticed I forgot to add how much I love the shadowed foreground...inspired to give that idea a try myself now...thanks.
