Title: Temple Precinct
Post by: cyphyr on April 25, 2020, 04:06:01 PM
Playing with some of the Ancient Temples kits from KitBash3D and a couple of old models of the Giza pyramids.

Looks great, Richard.
Some suggestion nevertheless: maybe you could add some more subtle color and/or brightness variation. Everything except the palmtops has very similar colors. For example the tent could be a little more white, the pottery a tad more reddish, and maybe you could add some variation in the ground color? Just my opinion...

Nice indeed, looks very dusty and warm, but I agree with Hannes. It lacks a real focus point by the uniformity of colors.

I must say I like it as it is.
That makes you want to go on an educational trip or an archeology trip :)

Thanks guys :)

I actually removed the defuse textures that came with the kit and just used the bump (height) maps.

I think you're right about there being a lack of focus. I had hoped the monotone dusty sand would allow something to stand out, I just never decided exactly what.

I shall try blending the textures back in and see if I can find something to focus on.
Hmm what was the site that hosted the 3d scans of museum sculptures ... ?

Nice scene.

Seems many of these museum scans have been moved to sketchfab now.

That looks really nice. The addition of loose blocks on the ground definitely helps fill the dead space. I feel the shadows in-between the buildings and objects should maybe be a bit richer in shadow like that but just me.

Great work. I'd love to see this in different lighting setups if possible?  ;D
