Title: Kinda surprised no one has posted ... MS Flight 2020 ...
Post by: mhall on August 23, 2020, 01:45:15 AM
Has anyone been keeping an eye on this?

I've been watching videos on it for months. There's some really incredible tech here.

The new update to MS Flight 2020 includes the entire world - using continuous updates to over 2 Petabytes of Bing Maps data, ML learning and hand crafted assets.

It also includes real-time weather conditions and air traffic.

Considering the clouds are real-time generated - pretty decent (would love a couple more octaves of noise in some). The lighting model is quite nice as well.

I don't game, but I couldn't resist, bought it on release day (few days back) but haven't put the time to sit down with it, other than getting it installed.

It does look wonderful, I kinda forgot about this.

Boy do those trees look nice. Especially the first fly-by in the Oceana video. As you get a few hundred meters out they are crisp and lit so nicely.

Yeah - looks great!

It can definitely fall apart when flying at street level (depending on the city), but in the air where it's intended to be it looks amazing. Would love to put that up on a nice ultrawide 4K screen.
