Title: Arrakis Sandworm
Post by: WAS on September 18, 2020, 11:53:56 PM
Something I did with the sunset I made. Honestly just slapped it together, but I spent 3 days trying to make rolling smoke with fractals... didn't go as planned and never got anything that looked right to me. V3 also has a issue wanting to stay tight and can't get a middle ground with sharpness where I can have hard areas and soft wispy areas visually by the fractal previews. I'm sure If I played with stepping the scalars individually and finding the sweet spots but meh. Got too frustrated. Lol Like usual issues with this scene in PT being super slow at the end. The sand had reflection which made it much more visible, but after the sky and sandworm and tops of Dunes finishing in 4 hours, the dark sand took literally a 14+ and wasn't done. This one at half resolution, without sand, also took awhile at the bottom of the image, with full buckets going. Probably the second sun to get some detail ont he worm.

There's also a disabled sand-peaks wind swept dunes but it also looked bad. But the worm without anything also looked bad. Just altogether a bad scene xD

Sandworm is glorious for a freebie. It's by Glowbox Designs.

Yes, PT is sometimes very, very slow. I stopped one yesterday with water and v3 sky. The reflections weren't even nice (grainy and dotty), so that's why I did a desert one too. But indeed, sand takes a long time, so I didn't use PT.
