Hmmm... A card with an opacity image? Flattened and transparent sphere with lowered reflection? :)

Great! I knew this could be done - your image has no sphere borders visible. I tried to do the same to create heat distortion from the engines in my "Travellers" entry, but I couldn't get this right and the deadline was almost up. ;) The edges of the sphere were just there and I couldn't blend them into the environment.
