Title: dhavalmistry's Stones and Some Small Changes
Post by: rcallicotte on November 29, 2007, 08:48:41 AM
dh has created some cool stones.  Here is a render based upon a few small changes...small changes.

See his postings about these stones here - http://forums.planetside.co.uk/index.php?topic=2839.0

Very nice, Calico :).  Those few small changes that you made really add a lot, I think.

DH - I "lost" your stones while playing around.  That distinctive shape is missing.  As soon as I get that back, I'll repost something with better colors.

Here is what I've come up with so far.

Three things:

1.  I want to increase the color realism

2.  I want to increase the amount of displacement.

3.  I want to mask out the ground so the boulders appear to be realistic.

Otherwise, I like this better than my first one.

as per color realism....I guess it all depends on what type of overall atmosphere you are trying to achieve....

Try adding a negative Y displacement to the redirect shader and stretch it....

yea...I am having a LOT of trouble doing that....I might have to redo the whole thing again....

dh - Thanks.  I think your work is great.  Be careful if you feel like getting rid of anything via disappointment in what you can't yet see.  You've done a good job and maybe you just need time to think about it.  Don't assume because I participated that your work is sub-par.  I'm totally in learning mode.

As a matter of fact, I leaving this work for a few days to think about some other stuff and come back later.  I work better this way.
