Title: Polysphere "Thickness"
Post by: ares2101 on January 03, 2021, 10:26:18 PM
Hi, been ages since I came here, trying to refamiliarize myself with some of the finer details of Terragen.  I'm really liking polyspheres, but have one question about them in particular.  I made a dome structure out of a polysphere as an experiment by making parts of it transparent, leaving just the struts, but it looks razor thin as is.  Is there a way to thicken it somehow?  Give it some more substance?  The structure in question is based entirely on a polysphere with a default shader.  Displacements just roughen the surface, but it's still two-dimensionally thin.

I'd use two polyspheres, one slightly bigger. Everything is infinitely thin in Terragen I'm afraid.

May also be able to fake it by masking just the edges and displacing down or up to fold them

Ah, struts, now I know what that means. Then a double sphere won't work, but indeed some sort of displacement of just the edges.
But I think it's easier to make a sphere elsewhere and import.
