Title: Randomising object placement when populating an objects on another object
Post by: mhaze on January 17, 2021, 10:26:43 AM
I'm getting very even lines when populating an object. Why and is there anything I can do to randomise the positions of the objects(Moss). They also seem to be very regular in size.

I think it follows the faces of an object so if its not super high def it will align to faces. Least I remember something like this.

I think you maybe right - I'll try subdividing and tessallating.

Yeah, give it a try. Also just came to mind, be sure no masking has distort by normal, or a surface layer with breakup that has it enabled fed into distribution.

Just saw this. This is an old bug that is still around as it looks.
You most probably have some kind of rotation in the object or population (i forget which one).
Without rotation it looks ok.

Have a look here... 5 years old thread:

If you want the object in a certain rotated position, the easiest would be to save the object in another software first in that way.
Or just save that object as a TGO and import it ones again. Haven't tried this but it might work i think.
