Title: Alpine Spring
Post by: Gannaingh on February 05, 2021, 04:34:29 PM
The snow is melting, the water in the lake is running high and clear, and all sorts of plants and grasses are coming into bloom. There's nothing quite like a beautiful day in the mountains.

Very nice! I like it. Love the touch of fallen debris in the lake. Though I wonder what caused it. A volcano? Logging? The vegetation distribution looks good again.

That's by far the most beautiful render I've ever seen. The detail in every spot is incredible! That must of taken weeks to compose but time well spent!

Great scene. Very natural and well executed. At first I thought the dead trees were cracks in the ground, until I looked closely, but I remember having seen this in some US lakes. Very cool. Inspirational too (I should be doing this too, instead of all the fruitless experiments :P ).

Great stuff, really good.
The logs are a really nice touch, adding debris and such is something I really need to improve on myself, so thanks for the inspiration.

In 2018 I hiked ~1750mi/2800km in West USA (Pacific Crest Trail) and many many lakes have logs and other debris near the shores. It's rather a rule than exception, especially at lower altitudes.

Thank you, everybody!

To echo TU's experiences, most lakes have at least some logs in them. One hike I went on last summer, the lake bottom was littered with nothing but huge rocks and trees, it was beautiful.

I think I'm going to turn this into a series looking at the same landscape but in all the seasons. Next up will be summer. I'll probably need to make the underwater terrain more interesting since the foreground won't be "hidden" by the water.

This is an excellent idea. Summer, Winter, very good idea!
Your scene is really outstanding, it's my new desktop.

Beautiful and superb realism as always! Your scenes have that extra attention to detail that makes them more life-like. Keep up the good work! My only suggestion is a higher resolution render to pick up all the fine detail and give it a more "photographic" look. Not sure if it is pixilation or what, but there's a definite textural difference between renders and photography until you get up into the 4k+ range for the original render. Of course not everyone can, or feels like waiting on giant renders lol.

I cannot add anything to the others. Just great and beautiful!

I like giant renders, but since they come with an added level of detail I held off until I had improved the under water "mess". I've included a sneak peak of the under water surfacing which will be visible in the Summer iteration of the scene as the water level will be about 5 meters lower revealing all sorts of logs, rocks, and additional grasses. Thanks for taking a look.

These are beautifully done, very inspiring!  I love the bush distribution and the plants at the edge of the water.  The water color is nice too, and the talus slides are excellent.  Well done!
