Title: Problem with FBX import of terrains from Terragen
Post by: Teslagirl on May 14, 2021, 04:19:28 PM
Hello.
I can create an obj or fbx file from within Terragen using the Micro Exporter, and successfully import it into a Maya scene (as shown by polycount and in the Outliner) but I cannot see it in the Viewport. It comes in only as a Shape node, with no transform node. I have tried extreme zooms in and out, and using F to frame the mesh but there is no sign of it. I tried exporting the mesh as an fbx and re-importing it, but although the Outliner shows it,  I still can't see it in the Viewport. What am I doing wrong?

If you're using Maya and Terragen try my script  - Terraman:

Strange you are only getting a shape node - though I'd imagine one of the first things to try is setting your camera clipping planes - for a big terrain the default values are too small.

The script sets up camera planes automatically on import.
