Title: Trying to make god rays for a sunset scene
Post by: ares2101 on June 14, 2021, 07:18:48 PM
I've been trying to make some crepuscular rays in this scene, and despite having done a subtle version of that before, I can't seem to make it happen. I've got clouds and atmosphere receiving shadows, the sun is behind clouds, there's even more haze than the previous effort I made them with, and I've reseeded various combinations of clouds a bunch of times.  What am I missing?  I've looked up pictures of scenes similar to what I'm trying here and this looks pretty similar in layout to those.

Any ideas?

They usually occur when the sun strikes the side of clouds, and there's enough thin haze at the right altitude. Maybe you should increase haze desnity even more, and move the clouds by transform shader until the sun is getting just visible. Or move the sun by small increments until it does. can't say anything else, I'm afraid, it just needs some experimentation.
