A simple test setup with some new Speedtree plants I made last week. Nothing spectacular. DOF from Z-pass, regular renderer, 34mins.
I like that setting.
The dark piece in the middle seems to be an old boat?
Terrific plants.
Thanks. And yes, half-decayed rowboat.
Good one!
But I guess the scaling of the beautifull flowers isn't realistic?
Do they modles really match the size of such flowers?
They seems a little bit to tall in my opinion.
STORMLORD
kinda wish there wasn't DOF to truly inspect the new models. They do look pretty good from what I can tell in the focal.
I'll put up the no-DOF version for you, Jordan. Here's also some photo refs of the flowery plant. Can grow up to 1m.
Very nice work on the plants!
Nice scene Ulco.
I'd say a very good job. Only thing that's really missing is the fuzz, but lol that's sorta understandable.
I will probably make the fuzz as well for an autumn version. Just needs some fine alpha maps. And a little wait for them to get blooming and setting seed.
I'd say these beautiful plants are worth to be set to focus and keep the rest in DoF blurr... Only an idea :)
I might. Still have the dept pass I hope.
Better still, I did one with PT and DOF.
I like this last view a lot! Very realistic.
Those are terrific.
From what I see of the species, the fuzz is present from sprout to new growth shoots (for blooms) so should always be present.
Really nice. Looks very real to me.
Very nice work Ulco.
Ah, you mean multiple tiny hairs on stems. Yes, that's missing. I wouldn't know how to add that in a way any computer can handle. I thought you meant the seeds when open.
The closeups are terrific! Big Like!
??? Latest are photo's to show seed.
Äheäämm... I knew that :) I ment these:

Ah, luckily. For me and for you ;D

Oh yeahh, I see what you mean. Yeah those should be pretty doable as alpha.
As for the fuz, yeah, no. I don't know how to do that without it killing a renderer. Lol I mean you could try some hair and just do it around the new growth bits (flowers), and make it not so thick, just enough to pickup some light. Otherwise I'd probably fake it for further shots with another mesh over the newgrowth bits, just a tiny bit larger, and then an alpha mask and transparency.
Yes, that was my thought too, or at least something like that; a few planes perpendicular to the stem, circling it, or twice crosshatched from the center (so 8 planes), with fine hairs as alpha. But that's too much work, though doable.
That's actually a really good idea with the panes at the center.

That looks really good!

Yes very nice and realist. It looks like a real photograph !
