Title: High Point
Post by: moodflow on December 12, 2007, 11:16:58 PM
I've been wanting to do one of those snowy mountain scenes for a while, especially with a glacier.

This one took about 5.5 hours per core to render.   Combined, it would have taken over 22 hours, which isn't too bad for TGTP.

Native Res:  800x600
Quality:  0.8

Terrain modelled in world machine.
The glacier was placed via an image map, generated via world machine's flow map output.

I used a modified form of the "pacific grove rock" technique for the foreground rock.

Everything but the glacier's flow map is procedural.  Having fun!   8)

I love the snow..

Thanks Dhaval.  With this one I used 5 separate snow layers, including the glacier.

I had it set up so the higher the altitude, the steeper the slope the snow could stick to.   I also tried to get a freshly glazed look on the smooth rocks, and it seems to have worked out somewhat.
