I always use Terragen for my landscapes etc, but I do like to dip into Blender as well. Here's my current piece (I'm a Doctor Who fan. The TARDIS dimensions and colours are based on the original 1963 prop. Tried some volumetric fog. I think the Black and White works better. For those not in the Know the sign saying Totters lane is in reference to the location of the Junk yard the TARDIS was first seen.
Hope you like them
Very nice! I recently did my first scene in Blender. Took me a bit as I made the environment from scratch.

Thank you.
Have you tried using the landscape add on in blender? then exporting it as a displacement map to use in terragen?
I have not, though there is an add-on I am very much interested in.
Check these out, which work in conjunction

These two plugins and a nice scene exported to TG would probably look amazing.
PS, they also have a tree generator for 2D trees, which could be useful: http://www.cgchan.com/cantree
Card grass works pretty well in TG, and with no rotation, these trees could probably work well. Maybe a mask or two for leaf transparency and boom.
Its ANT Landscape and is built in. Its available under preferences and Add on. (thats if it's not already enabled)
Then using this work flow from Default cube.

For my Final degree project I used Terragen and populated the landscape using the plants etc from blender.
PPS Here is my first two little blender scenes (I forgot I did two actually): https://planetside.co.uk/forums/index.php/topic,29635.new.html#new
