Title: Support for 3D Connexion SpaceMouse
Post by: jgwinner on May 22, 2022, 10:11:04 PM
The SpaceMouse from https://3dconnexion.com/us/ is nearly indispensable once you start using it with CAD.

PLEASE tell me there's support for it in Terragen. I tried, but it doesn't seem to move the POV at all, and didn't see any note about it in settings or in the wiki.

Thanks,

These are just generic input devices with extra definable buttons. They should work once you define buttons that relate to general keyboard.

True for the buttons.  In my experience though the main 3D joystick function of the SpaceMouse requires specific software support, which Terragen likely doesn't have unfortunately.   https://3dconnexion.com/uk/support/faq/how-can-3d-mouse-support-be-added-to-my-favorite-application/

I love using my 3D Space mouse and wish all 3D apps would support it, it's pretty life-changing. The only real question I would have with it in Terragen is around the way Terragen's progressive rendering updates. The space mouse works great with apps that have realtime viewport updates, which makes it feel very fluid, it would be interesting how it would work in applications that use progressive viewports, such as Clarisse and Terragen. I would love to have it as an option though. I guess it's truly a matter of the speed of your machine at that point.
