Title: Weighting noise generation in 3D space to mimic cloud pillar formations
Post by: Moodles on August 15, 2022, 12:45:50 PM
Hey team Terragen,

So I have a problem that's been bugging me for ages, I use noise to mask areas of cloud within the atmosphere. Noise is generally great for this, however (as I understand) it generates equally throughout an XYZ coordinate system. Now I can of course mask that off at altitude which delivers somewhat of a solution. However if you look at this from a Y perspective the areas of noise appear distributed similar to this:

Now a more realistic formation from a Y perspective might appear weighted to a certain altitude with noise appearing only along a certain Y depth:

So my question is, is it possible to weight noise generation like this?
