I think having a "group to node" function (with user defined inputs) would be quite helpful, mainly with keeping the node network tidy. Some of my latest scenes have HUGE node networks, and this function would really make life easier. Of course, there could be an "open" option to open the group/node to see its internal network, just like current nodes have.

The system you're talking about is essentially what our "macro" functionality will encompass, when it's implemented later in 2008. There have been discussions about it before - a forum search ought to turn them up.
