Title: children's medieval tale
Post by: Dune on September 30, 2022, 02:24:16 AM
Well, let's show you a few of the renders I did for educational purposes; a short story about a boy in 1243 fleeing an enemy and hiding by his brother's grave in a crypt, before being found again by his father, sort of. Buildings done in Lightwave, people in DAZ and Marvelous Designer, veggies in Speedtree and all rest in TG of course. Crypt was a bit tricky, but with 2 local clouds and (angled) simple shapes, photo of church interior on card, and some spotlights, I managed to get this haze thing together, even in RT it worked well enough. PT would work better, but it was all done in a hurry.

The grave stone was just a photo, from which it was quite impossible to make a decent bump/displacement map, but so be it.

Beautiful images! And very recognizable glimmerveenesque!! ;)
Too bad, there wasn't more time. I think the path tracer would have been worth a try.

Nice work as usual Dune. I think I've ranted and raved over the water filling the moat before but I'll do it again and every time I see it, superb! Loving the POV on the boy catapulting the bog and of course that water is great here too.

It's been published for schools as a short animated stills-series with an exciting story being told (in Dutch I'm afraid). Best seen full page on Youtube of course.

Wow - I found myself listening to the first couple minutes even though I know nothing about Dutch language. If you ever get an English version please post it here.

Thanks. As a matter of fact it's Frisian Dutch, so with a heavy northern accent. And I am pretty sure it won't be translated as it's for schools up there.
We have accents (or local languages) that are hardly understandable for 'normal' speakers (like me). Where we live the older locals speak 'Drents', of which I can only pick up some words.

Great!!! I don't understand the words as well, but I like the visuals. Your images brought to life by subtle panning is superb. I'm sure the kids will like it. And the adults as well of course!! Very good job, Ulco!!

It's always fascinating to hear about the different dialects in countries and regions. 11 years ago I moved to the Southern U.S. where I'm sure everyone is aware of the dialect here.
I too found myself listening and watching this in wonder and enjoyment. Thanks for sharing this Dune!

Lovely.  The imagery is captivating and charming, you have turned Terragen into a fine Arts paint set. The lighting and gentle textures help to tell this story, and make it into a special magical place.
