Title: Amanita Muscaria
Post by: pixelpusher636 on November 29, 2022, 09:54:55 PM
Some Quixel Shrooms, they have a lot of convincing models, these seem off to me.

I think they need to be lowered a bit, so the fat part is more underground. I've never noticed these fat base stems in the wild actually. And perhaps a PF world, that would give them some variation in the base color.

Thanks Guys! Ulco I've actually see them both ways with that bulb stem present and non existent  just below the surface. No idea why. I think the PF might be the answer along with lowering some.

Love your models ! Love the depth of field effect....., is your ground an image map with displacement..... seem to have seen similar at Polligon ? BTW....do not eat them as they are extremely toxic...... and as a previous MD, saw one such poisoning and the guy did not make it ! Still they are pretty to look at !

MD!? Well I never would have guessed.
Indeed, all mushrooms are edible but some only once.  :) Yes the ground is a displaced image map. Thanks for the kudos pclavett!

I have a couple of updates. The first I wasn't quite satisfied with but thought it worth posting. A bit more pleased with the latter.
Thanks for having a look!

Both images are great but the second one the best ! Those models are awesome ! Where did you get them ? BTW..... also think that phrase of .... " all mushrooms being edible but some only once..." to be just about the funniest one yet ! Was eating lunch as I was reading the thread ........ took me some time to clear all that food out of my airways !!! Take care ! Paul

Wow, such an improvement!  That second set is great 👍. Which grass are you using in front there?  That looks really nice with the DOF.

Thanks a lot for the kind words guys! I'm partial to the second version as well so your comments were affirmation, thanks.

The mushrooms are from Quixel they are not so Scientific with their naming there as these are called "Red Mushrooms".
The grasses are a mixture of Lemon grass, wild grass (background) and "Tundra grass" in the foreground. These are from Quixel as well.

Thanks again Folks. Your input is always helpful and appreciated.
