Title: Pot
Post by: Doug on April 03, 2023, 09:54:11 AM
I am looking for something to put next to the Pot. I haven't found found the right object yet.

How about a wooden spoon to stir the pot and a small plate to rest it on?

the spoon needs a lot of work
the glass isnt to bad
i turned on Path Tracer for the glass
why did my tile floor and wall get fuzzy?

Perhaps dial back displacements?

i turned off Path Tracer
the glass looks ok and the tiles arn't fuzzy anymore

and i did dial back displacements
that did not work
i changed everything i could on the tiles
in Path tracer they are fuzzy

Maybe the pixel noise threshold will make a difference; lower it slightly, say from 0.05 to 0.03.

I'm only guessing but going by your renders I'd say using the standard renderer is the way to go. If using Path Tracer you might have to go to a very high value of Max Paths per Sample (64 Architecture, or 144 for extreme lighting) for your indoor scenes, which would mean extremely long render times. Your renders look great with Standard Renderer so stick with that I'd say.

The fuzziness is caused by the Roughness parameter on the shader. If you reduce this to 0 you can get perfectly sharp reflections again.

Thank you all for the help.
I set Pixel Noise Threshold to 0 and First sampling level to Max
that only took 28 hours to render, some parts i like and others i don't

i will try the roughness next

Ouch! that sets my guitar gently weeping.  :'(
Matt knows what he's talking about. Obey.  ;)

i turned roughness to 0 in the shader, that works, with path tracer it takes to long

this is Standard Render and i moved the light
only 1 hour to render

That's looking pretty good now.
So, what's for dinner?

Only the spoon is not very good, you'd better replace that, there must be better ones on the web.

i turned the spoon over for now, need to work on the UV map in hexagon

got the rug online and added a PBR displacement with a carpet PBR i had

the candy in the jar isnt working out as planned, yet
maybe i should put in a fish

How about an empty can of Campbells condensed soup a la Warhol: the contents will be in the pot of course.  :)

Well, if there's soup in the pot then how about a ham or toasted cheese sandwhich on a side plate?

Outstanding!  (Although the label appears to be on the inside of the can as well as the outside )

Nice
Hey, you may have a collectable item (soup can with label on inside) worth a few bob on Ebay I'd say.  ;D

How do i prevent the label from showing on the inside?

Make the can doublesided and give the inside another texture. Or if you can't, I'd make a simple shape final position, hover it only over the part where it is in view and assign another texture masked by that simple shape, after the label texture.

how about boiling frog soup
need to make the water boil now
move the frog for better shadows

Be sure to turn the heat down for a slow boil so the frog doesn't realise it is being boiled.  ;D
