Title: Gradient on background object?
Post by: szmatefy on June 26, 2023, 10:11:20 AM
Hey folks,

How can I apply a gradient mask on a background object?

I have a starry sky, but I need to apply a gradient on the object based on the altitude, how it's possible?

Thanks!

You can use the distribution shader as an altitude mask (set on Y!), but mind you, the numbers you have to use for altitude and fuzzy are pretty big. Test with a purple surface shader or so as background shader.

Thanks for the hint!

And really, I need insane altitude setting, however, apparently the fuzzy zone setting doesn't change the look, the transition is really harsh.

Try a really big fuzz too, like 10,000-100,000 or even bigger.

Here's a simple setup.
