Title: Great Northern
Post by: Gannaingh on November 26, 2024, 06:56:16 PM
I've wanted to get better with modeling my own objects so I asked my dad, a train guru, what is his favorite train engine. His answer is the Great Northern EMD F7.

I modeled the front train engine, the EMD F7A, in Blender and I had such a good time learning about modeling and texturing that I created the second ending\e, the EMD F7B (an additional engine for more power, but without drivers), and a container well car since a train needs something heavy to pull. I also modeled the trestle bridge and the concrete tunnel. With the modeling complete I loaded the objects into Terragen and got to work creating an atmospheric scene with the train making a journey through the mountains.

Thanks for taking a look!

Loove that cliff side going on! Sets the scene well for the train going by. Would love to see some color variation on the brush populations. Little to perfect whole trees show a neutral forest green and variates.

Brings back memories of riding Great Northern's Western Star from Chicago to Browning, Montana many years ago.  Very nice render, Gannaingh!
